Shedding light on…n°4 // Online underage users detection: can we reconcile efficiency, convenience and anonymity?

The evidence is clear. Today, practically no online service uses a satisfactory process to verify the age of its users. Despite their multiplicity, few methods are at the same time easy to implement, not very restrictive, respectful of users' privacy, efficient and robust against fraud attempts. In addition to providing a critical overview of existing solutions, PEReN presents the contours of a more satisfactory system. As part of a partnership with CNIL, PEReN participated in the development of an experimental solution for the transmission of proof of age by dual third parties that is interoperable with several verification methods.
